Movies on Main Street

Join us in Bessemer this Summer for four great events that will surely add to you Summer fun. Scheduled are two "Music at Massie." concerts at the beautiful Massie Field Bandshell and two outdoor "Fish Frys & A Flick."

Starting Friday, July 9, area movie fans have the chance for something completely different: Enjoy a fish fry at one of several local establishments then watch a great family oriented movie under the stars.

The movies will be shown on a screen on the side of the Couch Potato building on Sophie Street. The audience will watch from the green space South of the Couch Potato. Movie goers should bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. In case of rain, the movie will be shown the following evening.

Shows start at dusk and concessions are available. To help defray licensing costs, a donation is suggested.

Here's the lineup:

Friday, July 9 - Monsters Vs. Aliens (animated) (2009). Rated PG. When a meteorite from outer space hits a young woman and turns her into a giant monster, she is taken to a secret government compound where she meets a ragtag group of monsters also rounded up over the years.

Friday, August 6 - The Blind Side (2009). Rated PG-13. The story of Michael Oher, a homeless and traumatized boy who became an All American football player and first round NFL draft pick with the help of a caring woman and her family.
