DDA 2022-2023 TIF Presentation – PA 57 of 2018

Per PA 57 of 2018, the City of Bessemer’s Downtown Development Authority is required to present how it is spending the Tax Increment Financing Funds twice a year. The next two presentations will be held February 14th at 6 PM and February 26th at 6 PM. The meetings will be held in the City Hall Council Chambers and will be followed by a regular meeting of the Downtown Development Authority on February 14th and a regular City Council meeting on February 26th.

Notice is hereby given by resolution of the Gogebic County Board of Commissioners under authority granted in Public Act 81 of 2023, that the location of early voting site for all Federal and Statewide election dates will be the following:

PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY ELECTION TO BE HELD ON
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 27TH, 2024
BESSEMER, MICHIGAN

TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF BESSEMER:

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that any qualified elector of the City of Bessemer who is not already registered, may register to vote at the office of the City Clerk; the office of the County Clerk; a Secretary of State branch office, or other designated state agency. Registration forms can be obtained at mi.gov/vote and mailed to the City Clerk. Voters who are already registered may update their registration at www.expressSOS.com.

The last day to register in any manner other than in-person with the local clerk is Monday, February 12, 2024. After this date, anyone who qualifies as an elector may register to vote in person with proof of residency (MCL 168.492) at the City of Bessemer Clerk’s office, located at 411 S. Sophie St., Bessemer, MI 49911 at the following times:

• Regular business hours: Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Saturday, February 24th, 2024 from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Election Day, Tuesday, February 27th, 2024 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the purpose of the Presidential Primary Election is to nominate candidates from the Democratic and Republican Party for the Office of President of the United States.

MDOT seeks public input on future of Complete Streets
through online survey

LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is in the process of aligning its Complete Streets policy with its mission to serve and connect people, communities, and the economy through transportation. As part of this process, MDOT is seeking public input using an online Complete Streets survey. The survey is available and open for feedback through Feb. 9.

Background:
MDOT’s Complete Streets policy encompasses mobility and safety for pedestrians, bicyclists, public transportation users, older individuals, children, individuals with disabilities, motorists, and freight vehicles. The Complete Street policy works to ensure corridors are consistently designed, operated, and maintained to meet community needs and maximize safety.

Michigan Public Act 135 of 2010 defines “complete streets” as roadways planned, designed, and built to provide appropriate access to all legal users in a manner that promotes safe and efficient movement of people and goods whether by car, truck, transit, assistive device, foot, or bicycle.
