Be Civic Minded

Bessemer is a true tight-knit community where you can be part of what makes the city run. Attend a city council meeting, see your city officials around town, join a commission, and let your voice be heard.  Bessemer is a place where you can be part of making the city a better place to live.

The City of Bessemer provides services to all city residents from water & sewer service, to road maintenance and plowing, and our contracted garbage and recycling pickup.  Our historic city hall also houses the city's public library.  Find more information on each service here and feel free to contact us with any questions you may have.

The City of Bessemer is dedicated to making all of our services accessible to all of our residents regardless of mobility challenges. Our downstairs entrance by the library is ADA accessible and anyone with mobility challenges can use the phone on the wall to call the main desk. We are more than happy to come down and assist you with anything.

City Council

City Council Meetings are typically held on the second and forth Monday of each month, at 6:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers (second floor at City Hall). Special Meetings are posted in advance. Citizen participation is a vital aspect of the decision- making process so residents and business owners are encouraged to attend these meetings and to get involved in issues that affect their community.

Meeting agendas, minutes, and other information can be found on the City Council Page.

From the City Manager

We welcome you to make Bessemer your home or home-away-from home.  I am excited to be able to work with the tremendous people of this city to make it a great place to live, visit, or start a business in.  This beautiful city, nestled in the wilderness is a place where you can be whatever you want to be.
